Back on the very rough road again it has been very windy the last couple of days and not got any better the straps on the boat cover keeps breaking even though it is a new cover, there is no such thing as quality anymore,  with the straps and a blowout on the trailer along with the mud guard it is starting to get a little annoying. We were on our way to Dales Gorge to go to fern pool, we went to the information centre to try to get some idea of what different places might be like and what to expect, that was a waste of time, the signage in the Park is terrible. As we were driving to the gorge we saw a dingo laying beside the road and another big snake. It was a nice surprise to see really good steel stairs at this one, 200 made well fully enclosed on the sides, I just tried not to look through the steps down into the gorge, I did keep a hold of the rail. When we got to the bottom it brought us out onto rock platforms above Fortescue Falls, there was a lot of young people swimming i...

28th July 2021 Hamersley Gorge

We started off today on our rough trek not knowing that if we had done an induction on line or Hamersley iron we could have used their very good mine road right through to Tom Price, that explained the lack of traffic on the road we were on. As we travelled we saw a helicopter and a couple of men on bikes close to the road mustering the cattle, the helicopter was very low, I  had heard of this but had never seen it. The trip was not exceptional after that apart from seeing a large snake. Going into Hamersley Gorge was so different there was approximately 11/2 kms of one lane road inbetween gorge walls, it was beautiful, I didn't take a photo thinking I would take one on the way back, we went out another way. When we arrived at Hamersley Gorge I wasn't sure how I was going to be with the heights, I was very nervous looking down from the lookout was ok as there was fence and rail but looking down to where people was swimming it looked a challenge. Merv went in front keeping very ...

After a wonderful quite night we left our camp site on our way back to stargazers camp site as we had left the boat with John and Josie. As we passed python pool we stopped for a swim there was only four people there with their guide but nobody was swimming it was all our, and it was another fantastic experience, cool to get in but then it is hard to get out. When we arrived back at stargazers we had a coffee with John and Josie, hooked the boat up and set out for Karajini National Park. We thought we had been on some rough road but heavens we were now on a doozie, we travelled till about 3 o'clock to a free camp, we had it all to ourselves and once again very quite virtually no traffic uses that road, it was another clear but cool night. Our camp site

We left stargazers camp site heading out to a free camp area on George's River, on the way out it felt like we were driving up an avenue of lavender with all the Mulla Mulla in bloom. It was a glorious morning and it was nice to be going exploring, when we turned off to go to Python pool the road was pretty horrendous so it was stop and let the tyres down As we travelled the scenery cannot be described, it was so picturesque, the road through the rangers was bitumen, narrow and 45km speed limit. We stopped for a look at Python pool but didn't swim as there was quite a few people on there and we wanted to get to our camp site with enough time to look about. When we arrived at the camp area we weren't sure if the road took us to another spot further out, the area we were in had a sizable water hole that had been part of the river which was drying out, there were flocks of fire tailed finches, zebra finches, corellas, larks and large grey and white ibis...
