19th June 2021 Point Samson
Not a great nights sleep last night Merv woke around midnight and was freezing cold, he put clothes on and my minkie blanket on top of his, I gave him some panadol and tried to get to sleep, it was obviously a bit of a side effect from the vaccine so I lay awake listening for him, as well the dam bind was banging all around us all night.
Morning Merv seemed a bit better but very lethargic and aching, I wasn't much better as I had two nights with next to no sleep.
Even though we were dragging the back leg after breakfast we decided to go out to Harding dam, it is the dam where the towns water comes from.
The drive out reminded us how beautiful the Pilbara is, the colours of the stone with the greenery and flowering wattles make a spectacular sight.
At the dam there has been Bbq, picnic tables with shade, a small area for ball games and toilets, a perfect place to take the family for a days outing.
The road goes up to the top where there is a lookout and you can walk on the dam wall, the dam isn't big but it is beautiful, we chose to walk to the top so we could stop and look at the birds and scenery.
There is an iron ore train that runs along the area, we had to stop twice as they passed, the trains are over a kilometre long.
On the way back we stopped at Wickham for a couple of groceries, by the time we left Merv was needing to be back in bed.
The day has turned out sunny without any wind the water is looking much better we will see how we feel in the morning we might go fishing if we don't take the boat we may go around past Wickham and try for a whiting from the beach.
We have to move to another site in the morning so Merv has already taken the awning down, if the wind comes up I still should get a reasonable nights sleep.
