13th July 2021Forty Mile Beach
There wasn't many people around today to go out fishing being a week day and Merv wanted to go out and have a look at some areas that appeared to have channels, these are approximately 20kms away.
We had to wait till approximately 10o'clock before we could go out as the tide was too low before that, there was a bit of wind coming from the south west, we had rain over night probably the edge of the storm they had in Perth.
When we had gone approximately 10kms the water was very lumpy, wind one way swell the other, so we decided it wasn't the right conditions to go further out.
We just drifted with the sea anchor down hoping the wind would drop, we picked up a few small fish and some mackerel that went back.
The wind dropped for a short time it looked like it was going to get pleasant, we saw dolphin, dugong, lots of very large bait fish hanging around the boat and a very large sea snake.
I am always amazed at nature, nearly every day we see the sea eagle fly low over us with a fish in his tallons.
The calm didn't last long the wind came back with a vengeance which made it double lumpy, definitely not pleasant, we didn't stay much longer before we headed back which was quite a wet bumpy ride.
When we got to the beach I was very grateful there was two other young men come up to give us a hand to retrieve, Merv got the truck and three of us held the boat in the surging waves.
The weather looks as though it isn't going to be much for a few days.
