15th - 18th November 2021 Alexandra Bay

Today was a busy day packing up in Esperance, grocery shopping, fuel, national parks pass, printed out  at their office, we are not sure if we will be in  Cape Le Grande national park so we had better display it.
After leaving Esperance we headed for Dunns Rocks, 4wd in, it was pretty bad there wasn't potholes they were boiler holes that you drive in one side and out the other, the road was in atrocious condition after all the rain.
When we reached the so called camp area it really was a joke, toilet was good and that is where it stopped, there wasn't anywhere that you could camp, so wee left for Alexandera Bay.
This extra hundred or more kms, apart from the very slow drive out from Dunns Rocks, made it a very long tiring day.
When we reached our new destination, after another 4wd track, nowhere near as bad as the other one, we were greeted by another beautiful beach surrounded by islands keeping the beach very sheltered, the sand pure white.
The camp areas are laid out well and there are 3 very clean toilets, it is a shire run camp they supply garbage bin, keep the toilets clean with paper and hand wash basins, it costs $15 per night.
There are large bushes and banksias around our camp that are all in bloom bringing dozens of birds and sheltering us from the wind.
During the night we had a bit of rain but was mostly clearing cloud when we were up and about.
We walked along the beach before breakfast and was talking to a couple fishing while we watched what looked like a good storm brewing.
We went back for breakfast and to beat the storm, the storm ended up going around us so we set out to try to walk to the end of the beach.
As we walked along the turquoise water once again stunned us, the clarity on a cloudy day has to be seen to be believed.
We only walked approximately 2/3 of the way when it was turn back time, it is a bloody long way.
On the way back we came across a big goanna laying out on the beach.
In the evening we went down to watch the water at night and was talking to a guy from Esperance who haas driven down the beach and gone up into the dune area, set up a big caravan and camp site that will stay there till after summer for his family to use.
He was telling us that he caught a Samson fish out behind the first island in his tinnies a couple of weeks ago, Merv was thinking he might put the blowup in and try, I told him I wasn't going out there in that with all the salmon and sharks about, he was going to go alone, luckily the weather changed to shit.
During the night we were both stiff and sore caused by the amount of walking we had done so next morning we stayed in bed longer, Merv made us some toast for breakfast in bed then we slowly got moving.
The camp host stopped off and had a chat then we headed up over another rocky headland to another beach, only about 6 kms.
Late lunch and rest for the afternoon
It rained during the night and most of the day with very strong winds, we managed to get a few short walks in between showers but most of the day was inside, Merv cooked a tasty date loaf with the dates soaked in port, very yummo, good time for a game of cards and read a book.
There has been 3 Polaris fancy off road vehicles one family had 2, they are American made very fancy and strong it would have beennice to have one to drive to the end of the beaches, maybe next time I can hijack Phils 4wd bike 😂😎
