19th - 21st November 2021 Old Telegraph Road
Packed up and left the campsite today heading towards Norsman, on the way to Esperance we stopped in at Warton Beach, another stunning area with islands all around, the archipelago in Esperance must be big as the islands are everywhere.
We stopped in one of the car parks near Table Island, walked down to the beach and enjoyed watching 2 little boys approximately 4 and 6 fishing, they were having a ball with their rods and looked like old hands at it.
There is a good boat launching area close to the caravan park, Merv said he would like to take the big boat down there in nice summer weather and go out around some of the islands.
We then went to Esperance to get a few more groceries and top up with fuel.
There is a campsite along the Old Telegraph Road we intended to stay hopefully for a couple of nights, if the damn rain stops we might get a bit of metal detecting in.
The camp is on the side of Dundas Lake, a salt lake, there is a causeway built across it but it looks pretty boggy, we decided we wouldn't bother going across, the Old Telegraph Road runs right through to Baladonia, 4wd only.
We found a nice peaceful spot and setup, still raining and cold so hoping for a sunny day tomorrow.
Weather is rather nice today so we went for a walk across the causeway and down the side of the salt lake, we never saw any animals but tracked where some really big emus and kangaroos had croseed the lake.
After lunch we went for another walk down towards Baladonia hopingto spot a camel, it was a good walk and is making us wonder if after refueling and water at Norsman if we should go back down that way to Baladonia.
We never saw a camel only the skeleton of one and a nice little lizard.
As we were nearing camp we caught sight of some emu on the lake.
It was the best night weather wise we have had since goodness knows when, we could eat outside, play cards and because we were out in the bush alone strip off outside for bathing, no mozzies, flies during the day but I have figured cold weather no flies warm weather flies, I will put up with the flies.
While we were playing cards the most beautiful moon rose after us having colourful sunset.
Another peaceful nights sleep, we moved on to the old Dundas town site and down a few hours of metal detecting without any luck.
Headed into Norsman found the free stay, went for a walk before the rain started.
