22nd - 23rd November Campsite Eyre Bird Observatory Road

It rained heavy during the night so we decided it wouldn't be smart to go down the Old Telegraph Road crossing the salt lakes.
We left the free camp area and went to a park behind the local swimming pool, there is a tap we could get water from, showers that were token operated which was purchased from the information centre, there was also a dump point nearby.
We had our breakfast on a table in the park, Merv filled with water then we walked down to the local IGA for some bread and milk, no bread, I would have liked an ice cream from the ice creamery next door but they hadn't opened.
We walked back to the truck and had our showers, beautiful.
Merv topped up with fuel and we hit the road.
There was huge amounts of water laying down the sides of the road, it would not be smart to drive much off the road.
We saw 1 big wedge tailed eagle and a small family of emus, we have seen a lot of adolescence emus with dad over the last couple of weeks.
We weren't sure where we were going, I  was looking at points of interest on my explore Australia app when we decided we might try to get to the camp on the Eyre Bird Sanctuary road and go down there the following morning, it is rough 4wd but if you take it easy should be ok.
We hadn't long set up sitting outside with a drink and snacks when we noticed another storm building, we sat and watched lightning in the clouds at a distance but it didn't take long to reach us and drive us inside.
We had phone reception so it was  nice to talk to Liza.
It rained and blew all night.
When we woke the misty rain was so thick it looked like fog and the wind was still blowing strong, while having our coffee inn bed we thought it maybe better to wait till the following morning to go to the bird sanctuary.
After breakfast and the rain was only intermittent we got the metal detector out and wandered through the bush.
The wind still blew hard but if the rain came too much we stood under a small tree till it passed.
We were hoping to see some wild animals as we had seen a lot of kangaroos when we arrived but I guess they were sheltering the only thing we came across was a cold bob tailed lizard.
No treasure but filled in a couple of hours the rest of the day will be book reading or cards and hoping for a sunnier day tomorrow.
The afternoon cleared a bit so we went for a long walk down the road this time we saw a large kangaroo which crossed the road in front of us and 2 nice big emus.
