25th November 2021 Eucla Beach Camp
We left our camp site with 58 kms of 4wd to go, it got better as we went along it appeared as some of the locals go down that track to go out to the beach fishing, they had taken a chainsaw and cut back a lot of the branches, I did see someones roof rack laying on the track.
We only saw one large kangaroo but a number of different birds.
We travelled for some time then we came to the vermin proof fence, looks like it maybe for foxes, the track was better as it didn't have any trees but it upset me to see so many emu skeletons along the fence they for some reason had wanted to go through but died near the fence.
We were on the road 4 days and the only people we saw was the caretakers at the observatory.
We arrived out on the Eyre Highway 21/2 hours later near the Madura roadhouse, the tyres were inflated then we set off for our camp at Eucla Beach.
The weather remained wintery with wind and rain when we pulled up at Mandrabilla roundhouse we couldn't believe the amount of water laying Round, everthing is wet and muddy we have quite a bit of mud on the truck we will probably have to try to get rid of before we cross the border.
When we arrived at the beach near the old telegraph station we had to go for a walk to try and remember which way to go through the dunes to the area we like, it is so easy to get bush wacked but we finally got the truck where we wanted to go. I made sure I had the gps on so going out is easy.
Its very cold we left the camper on the truck for the night, just put the awning out with cooking gear then put up the toilet tent the rest can wait till tomorrow it has been a long day.
We went for a walk on the beach to relax but it started to rain so it was a short walk.
Merv made macaroni cheese for dinner, tomorrow's weather is only chance of a show, I hope there's chance of a bit of sun.
