21st -23rd December 2021 Dianas Cove camp site
It was a beautiful morning, Colin had been checking the weather and it looked as though it should be really great camping up the east coast so the four of us headed off for a couple of nights away camping. We stopped at Sorrel to pick up a couple of things before heading up the coast. The east coast highway is very windy and hilly in places so we took it easy and enjoyed the trip, we all stopped at Swansea for lunch at the fish and chip shop, Merv and I had chips and scallops, yummo.
When we arrived at the camp we were awhile behind Colin and Tanya as we were hit by a large rock from the tray of a truck which hit Merv's side window and shattered it so it took some time to tape it up so it wouldn't fall out, it made it hard for Merv to drive. The camp was nice right near a lagoon at the beach with good clean toilets. We went for a good walk on the beach after setting up.
Next morning Merv and I walked to the far end of the beach, Merv spinning as he went, he lost 2 lures and didn't get a bite.
In the afternoon Colin and Merv took their rods and lures to try to catch a fish, Tanya and I stayed in camp I said if they caught fish I would clean them thinking there was no way they would get any, a couple of hours later they walked into camp with Merv carring a big salmon. They had a break and went back down I joined them but with hooks and the salmon that was caught for bait. The men didn't catch anything else, I lost a couple of fish in the white water I didn't know what they were but I was hoping for flathead, we were packing up to go back to camp, as I pulled my line in another fish hit, I landed this one it was a 36.5 cm black bream if I had known they were there I would have used smaller baits and probably caught a lot more.
The next morning brought light drizzly rain wich was a bugger for packing up, Colin and Tanya have a great camper setup and was packed up and left before us. We stopped at Swansea to use their laundromat which is new, while I did the washing Merv brought me a cup of coffee and biscuit, there wasn't anyone else there.
We stopped again at Sorell to buy some heavy plastic to cover the broken window which made it a bit easier for driving, but not much, windscreens obrien are coming down to the Neck on Thursday to fix it.
We cooked the bream whole on the BBQ in foil for dinner, it was so sweet and moist I believed it was nicier than the last snapper we had, I hope I get some more.
