27th December - 11th January 2022 Eaglehawk Neck

The two weeks since Christmas has seen us go on many daily walks on the beach, the weather has been a little intermittent.
One evening we went to the beach to watch the little penguins come ashore, we were lucky enough to see 2 large groups come in but decided not to stay and watch anymore as the torch was disturbing them. While we were waiting we saw a water rat enter the water Merv commented that they must be good swimmers, I said they reminded me of otters then when we looked them up on Google they are also known as Tasmanian otters.
when the weather turned a bit rainy we went up and stayed with Paul and Esther for a couple of nights, during the day we visited Lola, Tammy Lillian and Anne, we were going to have dinner with Lola but Esther and Will had been close contact with covid positive people, once we found out we didn't want to risk Lola's Merv, we will go around again soon.
We left on Saturday stopping at Sorell to shop and fill with water, we had been to bcf for gas refills. We kept going to Dunalley where we stayed at the golf club for a small donation, it was far more sheltered than behind the hotel and there was toilets available.
Sunday morning we had to go to Nubeena for our covid booster, on the way home we went via Saltwater River and Lime Bay, we had thought about camping out there but decided there was much nicer places.
When we got back to Colin they were going to go down Snug and spend a couple of days with the granchildren while we looked after chooks and Jessie, they hadn't long gone and they were back, the diff had gone in the hi-lux, they took all their camp gear out of the 4wd put it in their suv and started out again, they got to about Dunalley when Colin realized he had forgotten the tent pegs so they went nto a nice restaurant on Marion Bay road had lunch and came home.
Next day Colin pulled the diff out then went on the internet to source another one, he found one up in Sheffield in the North of the state. Then Merv and Colin brought Colin's tinnie down from up the top, run the motor and got it ready for Merv and I to go fishing.
Next morning Merv and I went to Murdunna fishing, it was almost too calm without any wind, but it was nice to be on the water. We took home 6 big flathead but had released a lot that were just size, I also caught a monster wrasse which was also released. Meanwhile Colin and Tanya had gone north to pick up the diff,
