10th - 28th Febuary 2022

When we left the next day we had planned on driving up through the channel and stay in Snug.
We stopped ar Huonville for lunch on the river bank.
The drive through to Snug was very pretty, we stayed in the Snug caravan park which was quite a nice one, the only down side was the fishy smell coming from the processing plant, Merv went for a swim I thought it was just too smelly.
There was several nice walks we did before leaving
After returning to the Neck we spent time with Paul getting wood and metal detecting, stayed with Anne for a couple of days on 2 seperate occasions, stayed at Paul's for Jackies birthday helped Colin cart wood.
We went for a walk from Tasmans Arch to Waterfall Bay, there has been a very good trail made and new toilets at the Arch, there are great lookout points along the way to enjoy the coastal scenery. After the walk it was scallop pie and chips at the blowhole, chips were nice pie was 3rd grade, they sell nice ice cream there which we have indulged in.
During the following days we have walked the beach, hunted for cockles with Colin.
We took Colin's boat out of Murdunna targeting pink snapper, no luck a few small flathead and some school sharks, we did do some exploring trying deeper holes even went across to Lime bay.
We had one of our best camping trips, Colin took us to Adamsfield which is down the South West. We went via a road none of us had been on before through Elderslie, the road turned out to be very narrow windy dirt road that went on forever, but we were exploring.
We had to go into Mt Field to pick up a key to a gate, we booked for 2 nights it was so lovely when we got there I could have stayed a week but we had to return the key on time or face a $300 penalty.
There are 2 different camp areas 1 has a covered area with with strip lights and tables with a big firepit bbq, the other one is near the river where we stayed, no shelter or fireplace but was magnificent to stay at, Merv and I bathed in the river it was 7 degrees, it was a quick bath.
Adamsfield is an old osmiridian mine site, we 4wd out to the old open cut and explored, the township was completely destroyed in a bush fire several years ago but we still hunted around there.
We found what we thought was alluvial osmiridian but not sure.
The bush is lovely to walk in, we waited one evening on a large plain area hoping a wombat would come out as there was wombat scat everywhere, no luck. We were visited at the camp by possums and wallaby.
Merv and I walked down to where a waterfall, unfortunately the road went to the top of the falls not the bottom, it is a very high falls and although there is a track to get to the bottom it is for the very young or brave hearted.
The 4wd was great both Merv and I  got to have a ride on the back of the ute, something I haven't done for at least 40 years
After leaving Adamsfield on the way home we stopped off at 2 seperate bush walks, 1 called twisted sister the other big
 trees in the Styx valley
Both these walks were well worth the effort but the big trees was 15km of dirt road, some not so good.
On the way out we stopped at the Styx river for lunch where Colin had to repair a heater hose.
When we arrived back at The Neck we were hoping for good weather so we could go fishing again but it has turned relly nasty NE, rainy and very cold.
