10th - 11th December 2021 Port Lowly Eyre

We are off again, time to be on the move, we are heading up the road with the intention of staying at Point Lowly for a night.
We stoppedin at Wyalla where Merv found a car wash to wash the truck, he said he didn't want to take any dieback into Tassie.
After that  ( and of course ) checked out the jetty,  the government has spent a lot of money building a new peir and marina, there is a swimming enclosure in the marina with a shark net around it, men were underwater pressure cleaning the net.
The peir is an amazing construction with a big circular opening out towards the end, there are also large shade areas put up. We have noticed with all the jettys they have built on them what I call bus stops so people fishing on the jetty has shelter from the weather, some has as many as 3 double back to back shelters.
While we were out the end 2 mother dolphin came along with their babies, they came in close and appeared to be watching us as much as we watched them.
We had lunch in the camper there, I  had to use the toilets and it is such a shame so much money spent on the peir and marina and the toilet block was so old, one cubicle was out of service with christ only knows what up the wall, the second one had the seat smashed off which left one cubicle, and not very nice.
It is a shame we have noticed in the towns that have a large amount of indigenous things are smashed and dirty, the councils seem to give up, Coolgardie they just locked and left them.
We left for Port Lowly and was very impressed when we drove in, it was beautiful, no beach but the wind had dropped and the sun was out, we were only going to stay 1 night but decided to stay 2 and take the boat out in the morning.
We tried fishing from the rocks and wharf, Merv was trying for herring I was trying for squid,  I didn't have any luck.
We were camped right on the edge of the marina overlooking the boat ramp, it cost $10 with toilets, cold showers, that you get used to and garbage bins.
The next morning was magnificent we didn't have to use the boat ramp to launch it was nice and gravely near us, it is just as well as 26 boats went out trying to catch a kingfish it is the end of their run, a nice day so everyone was trying.
We trolled for awhile trying to catch a kingfish or herring even but no luck, we had one herring Merv caught the night before so we tried for a whiting.
We didn't have any luck with whiting so we moved in closer near the other boats, all we caught was pink snapper which is closed season at the moment, luckily they were all lip caught from shallow water so released well.
We ran out of bait so Merv said if Phil can use lollies he would try dates, we went back in had a drink Merv got some dates I got some chicken.
We stayed out until both of us had a saw bum and had to come in, very reluctantly it was the best conditions I have had since who knows when.
In the afternoon I made a date and apple loaf, we went down to the water Merv jumped in for a swim I didn't it was weedy, , Merv said it was smelly.
We had Shark Bay pink snapper for dinner while watching all the ( very expensive) boats come in.
There was 2 fish caught 1 landed 1 lost, these boats were out all day with all the fancy gear one could think of
